Botley Choral Society

About the Society

Botley Choral Society was formed in 1923 to serve the wishes of the residents of Botley and Curdridge in Hampshire, England. It currently comprises approximately 80 members who practice on a Wednesday evening at All Saints Church, Botley.

From its beginning the Society took part in the Winchester Music Festival, which was an important social occasion and which included until the early eighties a competition with other choirs. In recent years the Society has grown from strength to strength, and under its conductor David Burgess performs at least two concerts a year to the highest possible standard. Either a St. Cecilia concert is given in late November or a Carol concert in December. An Easter concert is also held annually. Performances are held in Botley and other local venues. The society also joins other choirs to participate in the Winchester and County Music Festival each May, either in Romsey Abbey or Winchester Cathedral.

The Society is a member of the Making Music (formerly the National Federation of Music Societies).
