Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose, and HMS Pinafore - thrilling performances!

Our Spring Concerts 2025 thrilled audiences and members alike. Here are a few comments received by David Burgess our conductor:

What an excellent concert on Sunday!  Faith, Bev and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the BCS concert on Sunday. I particularly enjoyed the L'Estrange piece, it was the first time I had heard it. Would certainly listen to it again should the opportunity arise.

Hi David - just a quick note to thank you, the choir, the soloists and the ensemble for a hugely enjoyable evening last night.  While I knew of Ship Ahoy - and I know some of Alexander L’Estrange’s work - I hadn’t actually heard the whole of Ship Ahoy before. Throughly enjoyable!  (Jane Bryant)

What a wonderful concert you gave last evening . It was just perfect in every way .

Thank you for inviting me to sing the part of Captain Corcoran in Botley Choral's concert featuring HMS Pinafore.  I thoroughly enjoyed singing the part, and especially duetting with Fran.  The choir and other soloists were on great form on both evenings, and together with the "band" produced an excellent sound, especially in All Saints.   Julia and I very much enjoyed Ahoy!  Following the score, it was clear that it was quite a challenging work; well sung!

Such a lovely concert yesterday evening. Especially the second half. Lowlands away so beautiful.

Fabulous:  thank you Botley Choral.  My introduction to HMS Pinafore was at a D'Oyly Carte production at the Bristol Hippodrome when I was in my teens.  I was smitten.  This evening I enjoyed every minute of it and absolutely loved your selection of the soloists.  The choir were tremendous, and the musicians were so good, especially in their sea shanty selection.
